And if you’re washing wool...
Are merino wool and cashmere a nightmare for you? Don’t worry, there is a simple and natural method for washing wool without damaging it! Grate some potatoes in a basin with lukewarm water, then put in the items you want to wash. Rinse them with plenty of fresh water. They will stay alive, soft and undamaged!
Apple... conditioner.
Instead of conditioner use apple juice! Take some rennet apples and blend them, then strain everything until you get a very clear juice. A small, natural trick that will make your styling last longer and give you more beautiful and vigorous hair!
Artichoke beauty mask
The thorniest things always hide a tender heart, especially the artichoke... so good at heart, especially for your skin. Clean it and whisk it, then add a tablespoonful of yoghurt and a few drops of lemon. Spread the cream on your face and let it act for about twenty minutes. Now you have a beauty mask that will revitalize your skin and make it luminous again. So that you’ll never have to feel dull again.
Clothes without stain
To get rid of difficult stains, like strawberries for example, it is enough to treat them with lemon juice mixed with an equal amount of vinegar. To remove rust stains from material use fresh tomato juice! Remember, in both cases, always to rinse carefully.
Coffee without lime scale!
Coffee is so good! … but the lime scale that builds up in the kettle is disgusting! To solve this problem without resorting to chemical products (which for certain do no good to either your health or the taste of your coffee) there is a simple and certainly more natural way. Fill the espresso maker with water and vinegar in equal parts and add a pinch of finely-ground salt, put it on the fire and let all the water filter through. Rinse carefully. The lime scale disappears!
For washing... the washing machine.
To remove any soap or lime scale residue from the washing machine you can use now and again this wholly natural method. Pour 4 litres of vinegar in the washing machine and set the temperature to 30 degrees. Now turn on the washing machine as if to wash a load. Once the programme is finished your appliance will be clean, descaled and once more… incredibly efficient.
Freshness test
If we have put fresh chicken eggs in the fridge together with other ones and after a while we can’t remember which are the fresh ones, we can make a simple test. Let’s put all the eggs in water, those who will sink to the bottom are the fresh ones, while the ones floating need to be thrown out! Now have a happy omelette!
Just a spoonful of sugar...and soap washes better
For an efficient and natural peeling add a bit of sugar to your regular face soap, delicately massage forehead, nose and cheeks and rinse with lukewarm water. Your skin will be clean, soft and the application of makeup will be much smoother...
Lemon...manicure.
For a perfect manicure put your fingers to soak in lukewarm water with the juice of half a lemon for about 5 minutes. Rinse and then blot, pushing the cuticles in. Take the skin of a lemon and rub it hard over your fingernails. Now dry them and buff them with a soft cloth.
Nettle concotion
Do-it-yourself magic potion? Here is a small trick for always having shiny and strong hair, just like you have when leaving the hairdresser’s... Whisk 3 fistfuls of fresh nettles in a mixer and add 200ml of water. Let everything boil for about half an hour. Filter the concoction and apply this lotion to your hair while massaging the scalp. Everyone will find your hair spellbinding!
Nourishing treatment
Do you want a super-nourishing treatment for your skin and hair? Take an egg yolk and mix it with a spoonful of extra virgin olive oil and a spoonful of liquid honey. You’ll get a soft cream to spread on your hair, scalp, face and neck. Once applied to the hair cover your head with a shower cap and let it act for half an hour, then rinse everything with lukewarm water. Once the shampoo is over add a spoonful of vinegar or apple cider with the final rinse.

Olive oil...what a marvel.
Such a soft skin it has to be caressed? Spread a few drops of oil on the skin of your body and face half an hour before your shower, or add a spoonful of it to the bathwater. The result is guaranteed! If you want you can get an even softer and more natural effect by putting two fistfuls of bran in a cloth bag, squeezing it with gloves on under boiling water for a few moments and then using it without soap as if it was a sponge. Olive oil is also perfect for your hair! Put it on half an hour before shampooing your hair and leave it… you’ll get great softness.

Onions get rid of rust too…
You know those horrible rust stains that form on scissors, knife blades and kitchen utensils? To eliminate them and never see them again all you need to do is rub them with a piece of onion first dipped into sugar. A natural anti-rust method ... and always effective.
Parsley... hair.
You’ll think it strange but parsley is really good for your hair! Boil a few sprigs of parsley for a few minutes. Turn the stove off, filter the liquid and let it cool down a little. After shampooing, pour this liquid over your hair, it will become soft and shiny. Also, if your hair is blond it will take on ash highlights, if it’s dark the colour will be brightened up.
Rosewater
Rosewater! With its fantastic smell and refreshing and cleansing properties… a universal remedy for the face! You may not be aware of it, but you can make it yourself at home. Take 30 grams of fresh rose petals and put them in half a litre of boiling distilled water. Let the rosewater cool and then keep it in the fridge. This perfumed beauty toner is now ready for use.
Run out of cleansing milk? Don’t worry... there’s chamomile
All you need are two teaspoonfuls of chamomile flowers and half a cup of whole milk to have a cleansing milk always ready for use, completely natural and made entirely by you. Warm everything up in a bain marie for 30 minutes, let it steep for two hours and then strain it through a sieve. Keep it in the fridge and use it within a week, cleansing you face will be much milder.
Split ends? Try hair and egg.
Did you know that egg applied on your hair has also an excellent result on split ends? Mix the red of an egg with a few drops of lemon and add a spoonful of honey melted in a bain marie. Apply to your hair, massage delicately and then go ahead and shampoo it!
Steel in batter!
A fail proof method for having very shiny steel is that of spreading it first with a mixture of water and flour. Rub all the surfaces well with this mixture, from the pots to the sink, to the stove, then go over them with a clean and soft cloth. Your steel will become as good as new.
The 100% natural deodorant
Did you know that lemon is a deodorant that you can apply every morning, just like the roll-on that you buy at the supermarket or in the pharmacy? Take a ball of cotton wool and pass it everyday where necessary, as you normally do. After a while you will only need to use it two or three times a week.
The natural stock cube
Every time you have some concentrated broth, roast sauce or vegetable purée left over, freeze them in ice cube containers! You can use them to give flavour to your dishes at the last minute, just like a natural stock cube!
Too much salt in the soup? Don’t throw it out of the window!
If you put too much salt in and your very delicate consommé has turned into an uneatable potion, don’t worry! Pour an egg white into the pot, let it harden and then take it out with a slotted spoon. The excess saltiness will vanish and your soup will once more be very delicate.
